Veteran Latino-rights advocate charged with voter fraud
Felony charges have been filed and an arrest warrant issued for a well-known Orange County political activist suspected of committing election and voter registration fraud, the California secretary of State's office announced Wednesday.
Investigators in the agency's election-fraud unit said Nativo V. Lopez, 57, of Santa Ana leased office space in Boyle Heights and registered to vote using that address although he lived with his family in Orange County. They also say Lopez, president of the Mexican American Political Assn., cast an illegal ballot in L.A. in the 2008 presidential primary.
The Los Angeles County district attorney's office, which is working with the secretary of State, charged Lopez with four felonies: fraudulent voter registration, fraudulent document filing, perjury and fraudulent voting. A warrant was issued for his arrest and bail was set at $10,000. The offenses carry penalties of up to three years in prison.

Stands to reason. Orange County is a bastion of conservatism. Mr. Lopez, of Santa Ana (in Orange County), was a spectacle of liberalism. Outcome obvious.
As far as I'm concerned, this is much-a-do about nothing.

Wow, voter fraud is 'much-a-do about nothing'? Let me tell you a story for you to understand how important Free and Fair Elections are.
When Iraq had their first, post Saddam, Free Election, they walked for miles. They embraced the political structure. An Iraqi Police who were protecting the voting places died that day. A suicide bomber rushed in to try to blow up a bunch of voters. He failed. An Iraqi Policeman bear hugged him and pulled him out of the voting area and was killed with him when that guy tried to kill voters. Everyone remembers the purple fingers. No one remembers the Iraqi Policeman. Those pictures of the purple fingers would mean more if people understood how important it was to them.
Free and Fair Elections should never be taken lightly. If it wasn't so important, there wouldn't be so much fraud involved.

This is 'much-a-do' about nothing. We're talking about one person. An individual. I had to read the article twice just to make sure that I wasn't mistaken. "Are they kidding me....."
(What I may have missed is the part where they say Mr. Lopez voted more than once.)
But we can take this a step further. They caught this guy using a fine tooth comb. No doubt they'll be catching many many more who did the exact same thing. They caught one. They'll catch 'em all.
